Cresotech, Inc. has released a new version of PocketLANce - a new LAN browser for Pocket PC. PocketLANce 1.05b is now available for all users of Pocket PC devices running Windows Powered CE 3.0 operating system. With Cresotech PocketLANce users can easily browse, locate, and download files directly from network servers. So this software turns your PDA device into a fully functional workstation providing full access to Windows Network resources from your Pocket PC.

The advantages of shared resources - be it shared Internet access, printer, storage or any other network-connectable units - are obvious not only for the network engineers, but for an increasing number of business people that run networks at work and at home. Until now, accessing these resources on Pocket PCs has required getting into complicated and cumbersome procedures. PocketLANce cuts these angles and adds superb LAN browsing capabilities to Pocket PC devices running Windows CE 3.0. Moreover, PocketLANce supports ARM, MIPS as well as SH3 CPUs, thus leaving out of the loop no Pocket PC users.

Now SH3- and MIPS-powered PDAs (such as Casio, first generation HP Jornada, Symbol etc.), which cannot be upgraded to MS Pocket PC 2002, are leapfrogged by PocketLANce to the state-of-the-art LAN-browsing capabilities.

Cresotech PocketLANce requires no additional software drivers/libraries or extra hardware equipment. The network access is granted as soon as your Pocket PC is placed into a cradle connected to a PC with a LAN connection. Even more lucrative option would be to browse the network resources from your Pocket PC device without using the cradle: a network card or wireless network card driven by PocketLANce would do that for you.

PocketLANce sets new horizons of remote mobile network access via either wireless network card or mobile phone/modem when using Remote Access Service or Dial-Up Networking. It allows external users to access the local network anytime anywhere as if they were locally connected to the LAN.

Cresotech, Inc. also announces the release of its PocketLANce Software Development Kit. PocketLANce SDK is a function library that gives C, C++ developers and system integrators all they need to incorporate local networking capabilities into commercial or custom applications based on the Microsoft Windows Powered CE 3.0 Pocket PC platform. For more information on PocketLANce Software Development Kit go to the product page at http://www.pocketlance.com/pocketlance_sdk.shtml.
